The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain the plea seeking an investigation into the murder of a Telangana lawyer couple this year by an independent investigation agency.
The bench of Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and Justices A.S. Bopanna and Justice V. Ramasubramanian passed this order while hearing a PIL filed by the Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust.
The petitioner sought an inquiry with an Independent Investigation Agency into the murder of Vaman Rao couple. The bench asked the petitioner to withdraw the plea and approach the High Court with the same prayer. During the hearing, the CJI commented that the matter was within the purview of the Telangana Judiciary.
The Counsel for the Petitioner stated that there are 3 matters pending before the Telangana High Court, including the matter filed by the father of the deceased and taken up on the Chief Justice’s cognizance.
The petitioner then sought an order directing for protection of lawyers across the country. The bench directed the petitioner that he can approach the Supreme Court after the orders of the Telangana High Court.
The Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust withdrew the petition on the recommendations of the Supreme Court.
