Advocate Abhishek Choudhary has sent a legal notice to Twitter in relation to a Twitter bio, which described West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the “Guardian of our Constitution”.
He said, “The Title given as per my knowledge, can only be given to Constitutional Courts, more specifically the Supreme Court of India. The Constituent Assembly debates on October 16, 1949 Part II (Volume X) suggest that the Supreme Court of India is the sole guardian of every article of the Constitution.
As per law as well as of fact, the Supreme Court is the only protector, custodian, and guardian of the Indian Constitution and not Madam Mamata Banerjee, as claimed in the Twitter handle”.
Upon discovery of certain misleading facts related to the Constitution, being spread through the Twitter handle, Advocate Abhishek Chaudhary sent legal notice to Twitter.
