The Home Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghvi said on Saturday that the Government of Gujarat is all set to introduce a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the State.
The Gujarat cabinet has finally approved the formation of a committee to implement the UCC.
As per the reports available with media, the Union Minister Parshottam Rupala has stated that the Committee for implementation of the Uniform Civil Code will be headed by the retired High Court judge and would comprise of three to four members.
During a press conference held at the State Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Headquarters, the Home Minister Sanghvi said that, the people all over the country have been requesting for a Uniform Civil Code and the state of Gujarat under the leadership of Chief Minister has decided upon this important issue.
The senior BJP leader Rupala has said that the implementation of UCC in the State would bring a big relief to all who are suffering from civil disputes.
The Government of Uttarakhand government had earlier formed a 5-member panel headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai for examining the relevant personal laws in the State and to implement UCC.
