The Delhi High Court on Wednesday adjourned a petition registered as a PIL taking cognizance of the letter dated December 10, 2021 sent by Om Prakash Goyal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla adjourned the PIL challenging the setting up of unmanned barricades in Kalkaji, Govindpuri, C.R. Park Police Station areas to April 30, 2022.
In his communication to the PM, Goyal stated that he is the President of Delhi Pradeshik Agarwal Sammelan. He raises his grievance with regard to the setting up of unmanned barricades in Kalkaji, Govindpuri, C.R. Park Police Station areas.
In his letter, Goyal mentioned that these unmanned barricades serve no purpose, and cause blockage in free flow of traffic, which is causing misery and harassment to motorists and the general public. Furthermore, he stated they lead to long traffic jams and hold-ups.

Additionally, he also circulated news reports published in the Times of India, Delhi, December 2021 as well as a Hindi daily.
In its order dated February 22, 2022, the High Court had said the issues raised by Goyal require consideration since the unmanned barricades of the roads, prima facie, serve no purpose and do indeed cause inconvenience and harassment to the public at large. Such barricades are also being used to set up and run kiosks and for parking vehicles, the Court said.
The Court had then issued notice to the Commissioner of Police, Government of NCT of Delhi, Union of India through the Ministry of Home Affairs and South Delhi Municipal Corporation through the Commissioner, returnable on April 13.
