Unprecedented Safety Measures At SC To Guard Against COVID19

The Supreme Court came out of the Holi recess with unprecedented scenes being seen around the court, just a day after the CJI SA Bobde  convened a meeting with brother judges and senior doctors on measures to be taken within the premises to deal with with the Coronaviraus pandemic.

Apart from CJI Bobde, Justices Arun Mishra, UU Lalit, DY Chandrachud and L Nageshwara Rao along with some of the prominent doctors of the country and the President and Vice President of SCBA and SCAORA discussed stringent security measures  to be taken in the court. Consequently, unprecedented  security  and safety measures were put in place to protect the people who work to provide justice to the populous. A long line of people was seen at the entrance of the court as everyone passing through the gates was being scanned by a thermal scanner for Coronavirus symptoms.

The top court of the country had put in various guidelines to avoid the overcrowding of the courts and prevent the disease from spreading. The court had decided that only six benches will be operative. The court also is said to hear only the urgent matters and that the court will be lenient in these matters. The CJI is to review these measures at a meeting he has scheduled for Wednesday.
