Uphaar cinema case: Charges for evidence-tampering allowed by Delhi High Court

The Ansal brothers—Gopal and Sushil—are in further trouble. The brothers had approached the Delhi High Court challenging the trial court order of framing charges against them related to tampering of evidence in the Uphaar Cinema fire case.

The High Court accepted the review petition, but on May 12, it dismissed it, thereby upholding the trial court’s order.

This means that the trial court will now continue to frame charges.

The high court also said that there was adequate material before it. “The material gave rise to strong suspicion that the accused committed the offence for which charges were rightly framed,” it said.
