Akhilesh Yadav alleges EVM tampering, BJP says Samajwadi Party admitting defeat, poll body clarifies

After 24 hours of SP’s claim of EVM fraud and 48 hours before the counting of votes in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has finally come up with a reply.

In its statement, the poll body has clarified that the EVMs were for training officials and were not used in voting.

Thirty-six hours before the counting of votes for the results of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday alleged EVM tampering. He also claimed that the party workers of his ally Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) have seized a truck carrying EVMs in Varanasi.

Later, the SP chief has called a press conference to address the issue. He also tweeted a video of a truck carrying EVMs which was caught by his party workers in Varanasi after the ending of final phase voting in Uttar Pradesh. He also directed his party workers to be ready and active to check such EVM frauds.

While the BJP has termed it as the sign of opposition’s defeat before the counting of votes in Uttar Pradesh. The SP is blaming EVMs for their defeat and has a fear of loosing elections.

The incumbent BJP has enjoyed an advantage over the opposition Samajwadi Party in the exit polls results predicted before the final results of the 403-assembly seats of India’s most populous state.

The BJP, which won over 300 seats the last time, is being predicted to win more than 240 seats in majority of the exit poll surveys. Moment after the 7th phase polling in Uttar Pradesh, the exit polls have started predicting the return of the BJP’s second term in Uttar Pradesh where the same government have not been repeated yet.

The polling for the 403 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh has been concluded on Monday after the final and seventh phase polling on Poorvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.

In exit polls, it was expected that the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the Covid second wave and the farmers’ protest would damage the BJP’s image which have not been shown on exit polls. The exit polls results also mean that the BJP’s claim of overhauling the law and order situation and development projects in Kashi, Mathura, and Varanasi have been working in its favor.

We will have to wait a few more days for the final picture of the Uttar Pradesh polls.

Voter turnout recorded at 46.40 per cent till 3 pm, highest in Chandauli

The voter turn out till 3 pm was recorded at 46.40 per cent. The highest was recorded in Chandauli with 50.75 per cent, followed by Bhadohi and Jaunpur with 47.50 per cent and 47.18 per cent respectively.

35.51 percent voter turnout recorded till 1 pm, highest in Chandauli 

A voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh was recorded at 35.51 percent till 1 pm. The highest percentage was recorded in Chandauli at 38.43 percent, followed by Mirzapur at 38.10 percent and Mau at 37.08 percent.

Voter turnout touches 21.55 percent till 11 am, highest in Mau

The voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh was recorded at 21.55 percent till 11 am. The highest percentage of voter turnout was reported in Mau at 24.74 percent, followed by Chandauli at 23.43 percent and Mirzapur at 23.41 percent. The voting for 54 seats is taking place in nine districts.

Former UP Minister Ajay Rai casts vote in Varanasi, blames inadequate arrangement for less turnout

Ajay Rai, a Congress leader, and former Uttar Pradesh minister voted in Varanasi on Monday. He stated that this election’s turnout is lower than previous elections when long queues could be seen outside polling booths. He blamed the shorter lines for insufficient planning. Rai further said that people don’t appear to be excited as they are compelled to stand in sun.

State records 8.58 percent voter turnout till 9 am

Uttar Pradesh has witnessed an 8.58 percent voter turnout till 9 am. The highest percentage of voter turnout was recorded in Mau at 9.99 percent, followed by Jaunpur at 8.99 percent and Varanasi at 8.93 percent.

37.45% voters turnout recorded till 1 pm, PM Modi says poor of UP stand with BJP

As per the Election Commission’s latest update, Uttar Pradesh has been recorded 57.44% voter turnout till 5 PM. The polling is continued in 59 districts of Uttar Pradesh where heavyweights like Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav and Union minister SP Singh Baghel are contesting to gain power. 

PM Modi says people will bring Yogi govt back  

Ahead of third phase polling, PM Modi said even after getting defeated in the first two phases, whenever the Samajwadi Party leaders sleep, they watch dreams of coming into power. They were defeated in 2017, they will be defeated in 2022. People in UP will bring Yogi back, PM Modi said.

Uttar Pradesh, which is polling for 59 assembly seats, recorded 48.81% voting till 3 pm. The voter turnout was high in both Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in the first eight hours of polling.

Voter turnout at 35.88% till 1 pm

Voter turnout has been recorded at 35.88% till 1 pm in the third phase of election in Uttar Pradesh. Voting began at 7am and go on till 6pm. A total of 627 candidates including 3 BJP minsters are contesting in the third phase. Over 20 million people are eligible to vote. The counting of votes will be held on March 10.

Voter turnout has been recorded at 21.18 per cent till 11am in the third phase of election in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh districts- Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur and Mahoba are voting for the third phase of Uttar Pradesh elections.

8.15% voting recorded till 11 am

The voting in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh election has started and so far 8.15 per cent voting has been recorded till 9 am.
