Varanasi Literary Festival, the annual fest organised in the historic city of Benaras, felicitated Senior Advocate and Vice-President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Pradeep Rai, for his immense contribution in the legal sector.
Organised by the Nav Bharat Nirman Samiti in one of the holiest city of the country, also known by the name of Kashi, the two-day event, held on February 11 and 12, honoured people from different walks of life, who made extensive contribution in diverse fields, such as education, literature, art & culture, journalism, and justice delivery system.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, the SCBA Vice-President highlighted the crucial role played by Kashi in terms of literature.
He said Kashi has been a hub of literature, which gave birth to eminent personalities, such as Bharatendu Harishchandra and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.
The legal luminary stressed on taking steps to preserve the rich legacy of Kashi, which had always been known as the foundation stone of literature.
The Editorial Advisor of APN said that Varanasi commanded respect and it was unfair not to give credit to the city, which has remained a cultural hub for several years.
The holy city of Benaras gave India its first judge of the High Court, Justice Mehboob, son of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, noted Rai.
The Gomti Devi Excellence Awards were also given during the annual fests of Varanasi Literature Festival and the Gomti Devi Memorial Ceremony.
