Mamata Banerjee led government has written to the Election Commission (EC) over deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in the state for 7th phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The government has questioned the decision of not having a local officer in charge of the Quick Response Team and said it needs to be re-examined.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, the Centre had issued a notice deploying several hundred companies of the paramilitary and State forces on the election duty in the seats that are going to polls in the sixth and seventh phases polls.
According to the central government notice, various confidence-building measures like route marches, Long Range Patrols, cordon and search Ops are being undertaken in all the constituencies to instill confidence among the voters during polling in the state.
The move has been taken to ensure free, fair and peaceful polls in the Lok Sabha constituencies so that the voters can vote without fear.
