Yogi sacks Waqf board members, Allahabad HC reinstates

After Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi had six members of the Shia Waqf Board sacked on charges of scams and irregularities in the board, the six had run to the Allahabad High Court for redress.

On Friday (June 23), the court overruled the CM’s sacking order and ruled that the six should immediately be reinstated.

The chief minister of the BJP government had acted on the advice of Waqf and Minority Affairs Minister Mohsin Raza.

To be reinstated are Akhtar Hasan Rizvi, Moradabad’s Sayyed Wali Haider, Afshan Zaidi of Muzaffarnagar, Sayyed Azeem Hussain of Bareilly, Nazmul Hasan Rizvi and Aalima Zaidi.
