New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has said that its five benches, on rotational basis, shall start holding physical courts from September 1, while the remaining benches shall continue to take up matters through video conferencing.
An office order issued by Registrar General Manoj Jain said that these benches shall take up the matter as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). (Attached Below)
The High court has been conducting hearings through video conferencing since March 24, due to the COVID19 pandemic.
The office order issued by the Registrar General said that while considering the matter regarding resumption of physical functioning of the High Court, the suspension of functioning of court has been extended till September 30.
All pending matters listed before the High Court from September 1 to 30 would be adjourned to November 3 to December 7, respectively, the order said.
The Court of Registrars and Joint Registrars of the Court shall continue to take up matters through videoconferencing, where the files are already scanned, said the order.
The Delhi High Court has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for resumption of physical functioning of court w.e.f. September 1.

It describes the strict procedures to be duly followed by Advocates and litigants for the purpose of attending Physical Court hearings as well as Video conference hearings. According to the SOP, only one advocate per party is allowed whose vakalatnama is on record or who has been duly authorised by such Advocate to appear and whose case is listed for hearing that day. While it restricts entry of litigants unless there is specific direction from the High Court.
