NCLT will only take up the urgent matters via video conferencing due to shortage of members

Due to the shortage of the members,the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Monday has decided  that, only urgent matters will be taken up via video conferencing with effect from August 10, 2022, in all NCLT benches.


The Registrar-in-charge Kamal Sultani in order dated August 8 said that at present situation is being met by members taking up multiple benches through video conferencing.

The order reads that”There is a shortage of Hon’ble Members throughout the National Company Law Tribunal Benches that is amplified further with Hon’ble Members seeking leave on account of health and personal reasons.”

The order says that till the shortage is met,  only urgent matters shall be taken through VC w.e.f. 10.08.2022 at all NCLT Benches “

The order informs that the same was decided with the approval of President, NCLT.

NCLT has at  present about  16 benches all over India.

The Central government was pulled by the Supreme Court court In August 2020, over delays in filling up vacancies in various tribunals.
