The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was apprised by the Supreme Court on Friday to reconsider its decision for not lowering the qualifying cut-off percentile for admissions to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery(BDS) within a weeks time.
Supreme Court bench allowed the petition and stayed the order of the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) in a plea filed by Lt Col Suprita Chandel who sought relaxation in age criteria in order to appear in the departmental examination for grant of permanent commission.
The Supreme Court has set aside the decision of the Centre not to reduce the minimum marks for admission to BDS course in 2020-2021 while stating that it suffers from the vices of “illegality” and “irrationality”.
