The Supreme Court has on Monday upheld the Bombay High Court decision to grant bail to Deepak Kochhar, the husband of former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar, in the ICICI Bank-Videocon scam case.
The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court in a recent judgment addressed a delicate matter while expanding the definition of “outraging the modesty of a woman”. The criminal revision application of Parmeshwar Dhage, the accused, who was convicted by the trial court for “touching the feet of a woman while she was asleep”, was set aside by a single judge bench.
The Bombay High Court at Aurangabad bench recently dismissed a criminal revision application filed by one Parmeshwar Dhage (accused/convict/applicant) convicted by a trial court for touching the feet of a woman in her sleep and ruled that it amounts to violation of modesty of a woman, which is punishable under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code if any one touches any part of a woman without her consent.
A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to High Courts to take appropriate steps to adopt uniform procedure for case registration, use common judicial terms, phrases and abbreviations and make the court fee uniform.
Bombay High Court division bench heard a Suo Moto Public Interest Litigation (PIL) , relating to the use of nylon/synthetic thread (manja) and directed the respondents to form special cells for taking effective action against the violators as per the ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal.
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday rejected the petition filed by senior IPS officer Rashmi Shukla challenging the FIR lodged by Mumbai Police in March this year.
