Calcutta High Court disposed of a PIL with the grievance that the water body i.e. Garpukur in Dag No.2154 measuring about 1.2050 acres has illegally been allowed to be converted by permission without creation of the compensatory water body in violation of the West Bengal Inland Fisheries Act, 1984.
Submission of counsel for the petitioner in Calcutta High Court is that the surrounding area comprises of a Bustee of around 50 to 60 huts and the residents of that Bustee are being forced to vacate their houses by the private respondents and the nature of land is being changed.
Calcutta High Court division bench found that the petition was filed on 11.03.2022 and the allegations were made in the petition in respect of the tenders which were floated between June and July, 2021.
