The Supreme Court today has issued notice and stayed the Calcutta High Court order by which it had directed the School Education Department, West Bengal to make payment of salaries to part-time teachers equal to basic pay in scale of pay of regular teacher working in Higher Secondary Section in a non–government Aided Higher Secondary School with effect from 28th July 2010 i.e the date of order till 24.12.2013.
Supreme Court division bench held that the trial court can consider the Section 9 Arbitration Act application filed by Essar against Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) India Ltd.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice on a petition filed by the Centre against the Calcutta High Court order, which had appointed Justice (Retd) Ranjit Kumar Beg of Calcutta High Court as sole arbitrator to settle the dispute between one Tarun Kanti Das, a contractor and Eastern Railways (Kolkata), arising out of a contract.
Advocate Diksha Mishra, Counsel of petitioner Haldibari Tea Manufacturers LLP, suggested the name of Justice A K Ganguly, on which respondent Vishwanathan KV also gave his consent, to solve their dispute.
Supreme Court bench heard the petitioner's counsel and observed that, It is not a case where the accusation on the petitioner is for the offence mentioned in IPC that he will get the relief on the basis of slow process of trail and been in custody for a long period.
The Court observed that the Petitioner submits that while it may have been true that the family members are named in the complaint against her, she is now free and is leading her own life free from any influence of any family member.
