While considering the PIL seeking direction to the CBI to register an FIR and carry out investigation with respect to illegal border trade and smuggling of areca nuts into Mizoram and other adjoining States of India the Aizawl division bench of Gauhati High Court issued notice to the respondents.
Supreme Court division bench noted at this stage that during the course of the investigation, the statements of the persons hardly any witness has supported the commission of a crime which, as per her complaint, is alleged to have been committed at the police station itself.
