Another petition landed before the Supreme Court on Wednesday on the trouble and killings that happened in West Bengal after the Assembly election results were declared on May 2.
CBI submitted: “Secrecy is a pre-requisite of investigation into any offence. Confidentiality and insulation of the investigating agency and its investigation from leaks and disclosures at every stage has to be ensured.”
A petition filed in the Supreme Court has demanded both CBI and NIA to investigate the extra-judicial killing of three inmates by police in Chitrakoot prison of Uttar Pradesh.
The Supreme Court or a High Court can allow the CBI to carry out any probe. That has not happened in this case. The CBI did not approach any court of law.
The Petition states that despite having withdrawn the consent permitting the CBI to exercise their powers in Maharashtra, they could exercise their powers only after a constitutional court permitted.
