The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to consider the report submitted by a high-level probe panel headed by former Justice D.K. Jain and proceed further against erring police officials in the 1994 espionage case relating to ISRO scientist S Nambi Narayanan.
The peacock, the national bird of India, is protected under Schedule-I of the Wild Life (Protection) Act. The hunting of peacocks is also prohibited under the Act.
The probe agency has booked Ahmed under Section 120B (Criminal Conspiracy) read with 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He is also booked under section 51 read with Section 58 of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
The Delhi High Court has granted bail to an Advocate accused in a case of bribery involving two DSP’s and an inspector of Central Bureau of Investigation.
The CBI is under the mandate of CVC to continue and wind up the investigation as the entire case is based on the complaint by the Eastern Coalfields Limited, he said.
The petition has further raised the issue indicating that whether the High Court can entertain a PIL and direct the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry without it being shown that there was an abuse of power of investigation.
According to the petitioners, they have been duped by Westland Trade Private Limited, as it is a fake company floated with other ghost companies like Hyper Supermarket, HyperMart, Big Mart, Super Mart, etc.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner, had pointed out that the final decision to close the case has been taken even though several officers of the CBI recommended registration of a regular case for a further inquiry
The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice NV Ramana was hearing the matter through video conferencing. While hearing, the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted that the role of Amicus in the current matter has ended.
