The amendment makes CAs, company secretaries and cost and works accountants liable if they do financial transactions, buy and sell immovable property and operate companies for dubious clients.
The Supreme Court on Thursday disposed of a miscellaneous application filed by Chartered Accountant (CA) aspirants seeking a Back-up Exam, after the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) assured the apex court that 'opt out' candidates will not lose an attempt and all the benefits available will be provided to them, as directed by the SC order on June 30.
