Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the real honour of the Constitution of India lies in the understanding of the problems of the crores of people without toilets, water and electricity and to make their lives easier.

Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana urged the legal fraternity and young lawyers especially that they must assist judges and the institution. Protect the institution from motivated and targeted attacks, he said. "We are all ultimately part of one large family. Do not shy away from standing up for what is right, and against what is wrong.”

Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana on Saturday said the key to equal access to justice lies in creating legal awareness first. Legal awareness will be the galvanising force behind the reform process that we are propagating. Only when the vulnerable classes are aware about their rights, they can shape their own future.

A bench Supreme Court said that the suo motu extension of limitation period will stand withdrawn with effect from October 1, 2021. The Court observed that as the COVID-19 cases have come down and indicated that a buffer period of 90 days will be given with effect from October 1.

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of the Chief Justices of five High Courts to other states. The Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana has made the recommendations on September 16.

Speaking at an event organised by the Karnataka State Bar Council to pay tributes to late Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar, who passed away on April 24 this year, the CJI said, "Very often our justice delivery poses multiple barriers for the common people.
