The Supreme Court on Wednesday came down heavily on a petitioner, who sought conducting of Board examination for classes 10th and 12th through online mode.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear the plea which seeks cancellation of physical board examinations for the year 2021-22, which would be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and several other boards.
On June 1, the board had cancelled the CBSE class 12 board examination amidst the continuing upsurge in covid-19 cases across the country. The apex court had expressed its satisfaction regarding the Central government's decision to cancel the class 12 board exam.
The senior advocate appearing for CBSE affiliated school association submitted that the orders released by the Education Department is contrary to the circular released by CBSE which states the Rules of Recognition do not empower the Punjab Government to lay down such restriction.
