The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the criminal defamation proceedings against Founder-Director of India Today group and editor-in-Chief of India Today magazine Aroon Purie.
The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice in an appeal filed by the father of Late Actor Sushant Singh Rajput challenging the order dismissing the petition filed seeking direction to restrain the release of films portraying the life of the late actor.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the defamation proceedings against BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and MLA Vijender Gupta in a defamation case filed by Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
“Article 32 of Constitution of India entrusts the court to protect Fundamental Rights. Journalistic freedom lies at core of Freedom of Expression. India’s freedom of press stays as long as journalists can speak truth to power”, said Justice DY Chandrachud.
