Supreme Court issued notice to the central government and other respondents and asked the Union Government to refrain from taking coercive steps to evict about 200 slums in Delhi's Sarojini Nagar.
Supreme Court bench today declined to interfere in the matter. However, the bench Directed the High Court to Expedite hearing of appeal as petitioner has undergone around 8 years of imprisonment. It also directed him to apply afresh for bail which can be considered by high court on its own merits.
