A Plea has been filed in Delhi High Court to give directions to Union government and Delhi Government to treat the Judicial Officers as the frontline worker.
Mr. Senthil, a senior officer from the Central government joined the proceedings to assist the court on this aspect, stated that the pressure and temperature requirements of a CNG gas cylinder aren't feasible for transporting oxygen.
Following these submissions, Mehra while taking the court through the allocation plan suggested the court if Delhi can get oxygen from Dehradun and other nearby plants for 2-3 days.
Advocate S Prasanna filed the Public Interest Litigation on behalf of the NGO, also sought direction from the Delhi Government to ensure the resumption of hunger relief centers to provide free hot cooked meals to all those in need.
The Supreme Court took automatic cognizance of the situation in Corona, summoned the National Plan on Corona from the government. The CJI said, the government has the power to declare the lockdown.
SG Mehta informed the court that oxygen can be produced at the Vedanta plant, which was closed in Tamil Nadu. “We can reopen it to produce medical oxygen.”
Supply of oxygen for industrial purposes, except those exempted by the government, is prohibited with effect from April 22, 2021 until further orders, the order said.
