Delhi High Court division bench issued notice in the plea by a private liquor vendor alleging that the retail licenses for private vends have not been extended beyond the end of this month.
The plea sought quashing of the New Excise Policy as being ultra vires of Article 14 of the Constitution, and a direction to the Delhi Government to frame an Excise Policy in compliance with law, so as to prevent monopoly and cartelization
Delhi High Court has disposed of the liquor traders plea directing to make new excise policy for 2021-2022 and the single bench led by Justice Rekha Palli was informed by Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi that the New Excise Policy will be put on the government website by the end of the day.
The plea by the Delhi Liquor Traders association seeking direction to the Delhi government regarding the creation of a new excise policy for 2021 was listed on Friday before the vacation bench of the Delhi High Court.
