New Delhi, Oct 16 (ILNS): The Delhi High Court has directed Zee News to disclose the source from where the alleged confessional statement of Asif Iqbal Tanha was received. Tanha was arrested in relation to the Delhi Riots by Delhi Police.

The Delhi High Court today took up the case of jail inmates misusing the court’s order of bail during Covid, granted on humanitarian grounds. The court also issued notice in an application seeking modification of its earlier order extending the interim bail of those prisoners till October 31.

A Delhi Sessions Court has dismissed the interim bail application filed by Saleem Khan. Saleem is an accused in the Delhi riots police constable murder case.

A Delhi court today passed direction for the judicial remand of Umar Khalid till October 22 in connection with allegations against him for instigating the northeast Delhi riots.

The Supreme Court reserves judgment on the conduct of NLAT for September 21 and asks the Centre to clarify the stand on CCTV installation in Police stations. The Delhi Court allowed 10 days police custody under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities Prevention Act sought by Delhi Police stating that he has to be confronted with data of more than 11 Lakh pages, Umar Khalid was presented before the magistrate today after his arrest yesterday.

The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea filed by an accused in an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 case, in connection with the northeast Delhi riots, against a trial court order allowing the Delhi Police more time to probe the matter.

The Supreme Court has expressed surprise at the framing of an indictment by a lower court after 36 years against a leader in Punjab. The criminal case was filed in 1983. The top court has commented that it was the duty of the prosecution to expedite the trial.

The Delhi High Court has said that a July 8 circular issued by the Delhi Police crime branch chief, related to the investigation into the Delhi riots which took place in February, did not cause prejudice to any community. The court also refused to quash the circular.
