A historic judgment by the Supreme Court has brought hope to millions of disabled people, allowing them access to government jobs they were denied till now.
The preliminary affidavit was filed by the Central government which is being followed by a more comprehensive affidavit dated Jan 13 2022. The Centre stated that the directions and guidelines issued by the Centre and the Ministry were in the larger public interest, keeping in view the Covid pandemic.
The plea in the Supreme Court had sought the elderly and the disabled, who couldn't go for vaccinations against Covid-19, should be administered the vaccines at home instead of their risking catching an infection. The bench said conditions are not the same across India for such an order and rejected it.
The Court said they are leaving it to the wisdom of the Task Force to incorporate such measures as would ultimately benefit the elderly and the disabled citizens, in whose interest such guidelines have been conceived.
The Bombay High Court said on Monday that the Maharashtra government has the responsibility of providing special online education for disabled children
