Supreme Court was hearing a petition preferred by Aditya Dubey a 17-year-old student from Delhi who had approached the apex court aggrieved by the deteriorating air quality in Delhi & NCR.
The Central government has informed the Supreme Court on December 2 that a five-member task force has been constituted to curb the air pollution in Delhi NCR.
The Supreme Court on Friday expressed its disappointment at the reports carried in certain segments of the press, depicting the Apex Court as a villain for its role in the closure of schools on account of the air pollution in Delhi.
The Central government has constituted a 5-member Enforcement Task Force and a Flying Squad followed by the significant observations made by the Apex Court. The Central government has also provided this Task Force with legislative powers in order to punish and work for the prevention of pollution effectively.
