The High Court of Calcutta has quashed a first information report (FIR) registered against BJP leader and actor Paresh Rawal for a controversial remark allegedly made by him against Bengalis
Mr Achuthanandan claimed the allegations in his complaint and the FIR were different. He also said that the complaint should not have been rejected without conducting preliminary enquiry.
The Court said, “In conclusion we quash the FIR registered against Vinod Dua. But the Court rejected Dua’s plea for setting up of a high-level committee in each state to examine sedition charges slapped against journalists of 10 year standing.”
