CJI Ramana hauls up Centre over forced retirement of NCLAT chairperson. Supreme Court permits symbolic immersion of Ganesh idols, flays Telangana for not abiding by High Court order
The Supreme Court today agreed to hear the petition tomorrow, filed by the state of Telangana against High Court banning the immersion of Ganesha idols made of POP
The Telangana High Court has banned the immersion of Ganesh idols made of plaster of paris (POP) in Hussain Sagar Lake and other lakes in the city keeping in mind pollution of the Hussain Sagar Lake as well as the Covid-19 pandemic.
A two-judge bench of Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice R. Hemalatha, however, made it clear that individuals permitted to immerse the statues would at best go to the water body, drop the statue and come back. There is no question of staying back.
