The Supreme Court on Thursday has upheld the order of the Punjab & Haryana High Court which has confirmed the conviction of trio under Section 307 IPC with a five years rigorous imprisonment while setting aside their conviction under 148 IPC.
It was further submitted that as per the Customs Act 1962, and the regulations pertaining to the import of goods of foreign origin there was no obligation whatsoever to make imports of the goods only after verification.
The Court has asked the High Court to decide the pending review petition by December 21st, and observed that the Supreme Court cannot do much until and unless the petition is decided by the Court.
