The Gauhati High Court Bar Association has written a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court requesting for restoration of physical Courts by abolishing Virtual Courts
The Supreme Court of India on Friday dismissed a writ petition filed by the Consulate General of Iran seeking issuance of Habeas corpus for bodily presence of the prisoners and their safety till completion of repatriation process.
Two senior Law officers openly clashed in the Delhi High Court over who among them would appear for the Delhi Police in a case relating to illegal custody of a 25-year-old under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, due to non-functioning of NIA Special Court.
“Factors, such as Haridwar being a pilgrimage centre where people may gather in large numbers if such restrictions were not imposed, may have also weighed with the authorities in classifying it as a red zone earlier”, said by the bench of the Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, and Justice R.C. Khulbe
A Division Bench of the High Court comprising of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad issued notice to the Ministry of Human Resource Development and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and has asked them to submit a counter-affidavit within 5 days.
