A single-judge bench headed by Justice Tashi Rabstan has said, “the expression “law and order”, “public order”and “security of the State” are distinct concepts though always not separate.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has upheld the decision to cancel liquor vend licenses while stating that excise policies were framed from time to time in the most arbitrary and irrational manner, just to benefit those who had access to the corridors of power and without any focus on revenue generation.
"Rape is not merely a physical assault but it is the destruction of the personality of the victim. Therefore, Courts have to act responsibly and with sensitivity while dealing with the cases of rape, particularly, while referring to the prosecutrix, " the Court observed.
The court has also asked the government to apprise it regarding the rules or regulations under which staff has been provided to the 72 persons (in its compliance report) at the state expenses without being entitled to the same.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court said it's the Court's duty to release an accused on default bail if the investigation agency does not complete its probe within the prescribed time limit as per the law.
The Supreme Court has stayed the contempt proceedings which was sought to be initiated against Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari by the Uttarakhand High Court which had issued a notice on the same.
The Court has asked the High Court to decide the pending review petition by December 21st, and observed that the Supreme Court cannot do much until and unless the petition is decided by the Court.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on 03.12.2020 designated 26 Advocates as "Senior Advocate" subject to furnishing of undertaking in terms of Rule (4) of the Criteria for Designating Senior Advocates, 2018.
