The Supreme Court of India on Thursday celebrated the first-ever International Day of Women Judges, to promote full and equal participation of women at all levels of the judiciary.
Supreme Court bench on the previous hearing which was held on February 4, also expressed its displeasure over the laxity of state governments on compensation during the hearing of the plea moved by Gaurav Kumar Bansal seeking ex-gratia payments to families of those who died of Covid-19.
The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed ITC Limited's Yippee Masala Noodles plea challenging the order of the Madras High Court, where the High Court refused to prohibit Nestle India Ltd's Maggi Masala Noodles from using the expressions Magic Masala, Magical Masala with respect to its instant noodles.
The Supreme Court on Monday while giving the verdict regarding the construction of the fourth phase of DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) said DMRC will have to take the permission of the Chief Conservator of Forests and the Environment Ministry regarding the issue of trees for the construction of the fourth phase of the metro project. The Supreme Court had reserved its order November 11after hearing the petition of DMRC.
The Delhi High Court recently permitted the Delhi government to cut down supplies to fair price shops for those opting for doorstep delivery, noting that “an overwhelming majority” has opted for doorstep delivery. According to the petitioners Delhi government’s door-to-door ration scheme will create an opaque public distribution system that will put numerous beneficiaries at risk, especially migrant workers, covered under the National Food Security Act in Delhi.
