Supreme Court today, gave its judgement against the forceful eviction of top government officials from the Lutyens zone residential complexes with the help of ‘bouncers.
The Supreme Court on Thursday disposed of several connected appeals, while directing the Chandigarh Administration to decide the claim of conversion of allottees as on the date when consumer complaints were filed.
The petition in the Supreme Court has been filed by Delhi Police, challenging the bail granted by the Delhi High Court to the student activists, accused of being involved in the larger conspiracy that lead to riots in the national capital in 2020, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act
The majority also set aside other provisions of the Ordinance, including four-year tenure of Chairmen and members of various tribunals, calling them unconstitutional.
While pronouncing judgment on Friday, the Supreme Court said the public officers should not be called to court unnecessarily. The dignity and majesty of the Court are not enhanced when an officer is called to court, it said.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission to conduct and declare the results of Local Bodies (ward and office) elections in nine districts by September 15.
