Calcutta High Court while hearing petition directed the State government to ensure disbursal of adequate funds within Six weeks and came down heavily on the SLSA for not having enough funds to provide compensation to victims as per the West Bengal Victim Compensation Scheme, 2017.
Another question raised in the petition was that if both parties agree to decide the claims afresh by such an independent arbitrator appointed by the court, whether the court can remand back the matter to the same arbitrator who delivered the award.
