The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the Madras High Court order on not providing 10.5 percent reservation to the Vanniyar caste in Private Educational Institutions and appointments or posts in the services under the state within the Reservation for the Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities Act, 2021.
Supreme Court bench granted the permission to withdraw upon repeated persuasion of the respective advocates of Sports bodies, having earlier threatened costs against the appellant for abuse of process.
A ponzi scam accused had moved Supreme Court to club 29 FIRs against him in various states. The Court has asked the Centre to come up with a mechanism to ensure the accused are tried once instead of trial in all FIRs against them.
As the day’s hearing started, the bench said: “We have received a note of a list of dates of action taken by the ministries and nothing else is there in the note.”
