Acknowledging the dilemma that women undergo while taking a decision to terminate a pregnancy, the Delhi High Court noted that “the ultimate decision in such cases ought to recognize the choice of the mother, as also the possibility of a dignified life for the unborn child.”
The Delhi High Court said that there is a need for a Uniform Civil Code as envisaged under Article 44 of the Constitution and has been reiterated from time to time by the Supreme Court while allowing the plea filed by a man belong to “Meena Community” seeking directions for applicability
The direction was given by Justice Prathiba M Singh, on a plea by the Students Union and the Teachers Union at JNU, as well as two professors who teach at the University.
The Delhi High Court has stayed the sealing order of a borewells in a residential colony in Delhi while stating that the water shortage and the impending summer season, sealing of the borewells is likely to create enormous difficulties to the residents of Colony.
