The Delhi High Court, on Monday, stayed the operation of the Single Judge Bench’s decision, wherein it was held that a promise or assurance given by a Chief Minister of a state tantamount to an enforceable promise, and that it is the duty of the Government to enforce it.
The petitioner, a US citizen of Indian origin (Jorawar Singh Mundy), had said that as a lawyer in the US he was finding it difficult to find a job because this case reference was coming up in searches by prospective employees.
The direction was given by Justice Prathiba M Singh, on a plea by the Students Union and the Teachers Union at JNU, as well as two professors who teach at the University.
Mr Ashok Agarwal appearing for the petitioner put it into the notice of the court that DMD is a recognized form of disability under the rights of persons with disabilities Act, 2016.
Delhi High Court judge Justice Pratibha M. Singh on Friday recuses herself from hearing the petition challenging the new Privacy Policy introduced by WhatsApp alleging it violates the Right to Privacy provided under Part III of the Constitution of India.
