Calcutta High Court disposed of a PIL with the grievance that the water body i.e. Garpukur in Dag No.2154 measuring about 1.2050 acres has illegally been allowed to be converted by permission without creation of the compensatory water body in violation of the West Bengal Inland Fisheries Act, 1984.
Having perused the record, Calcutta High Court found that no material particular of any alleged irregularities have been disclosed in the petition nor any supporting documents have been enclosed except by enclosing one representation by the petitioner.
Submission of counsel for the petitioner in Calcutta High Court is that the surrounding area comprises of a Bustee of around 50 to 60 huts and the residents of that Bustee are being forced to vacate their houses by the private respondents and the nature of land is being changed.
Calcutta High Court division bench found that the petition was filed on 11.03.2022 and the allegations were made in the petition in respect of the tenders which were floated between June and July, 2021.
The Calcutta High Court has recently dismissed a PIL which had alleged that e-rickshaws are running in the Howrah district in the State of West Bengal without being registered in terms of provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
According to the Counsel for the Petitioner the work orders have been issued to the husband of the Pradhan violating the procedure and the rules and the money has been misappropriated.
While considering the PIL, the Calcutta High Court bench observed that the allegation which has been made in respect of entering the name of as many as 947 persons in the register of Unani practitioners without having any requisite qualification needs to be enquired into.
