Allahabad High Court has granted bail to former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur in the case, in which a woman and her friend had set themselves on fire outside the Supreme Court and succumbed to burn injuries later
Allahabad High Court allowed the application filed by Ishwar Singhal @ Tinu & Others quashed an FIR under Sections 323, 354, 498A, 504 IPC and Section 3/4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, in terms of the settlement agreement between parties before the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the HC.
According to the petition the respondents failed to provide medical facilities like medicines, oxygen, proper treatment, bed, ventilators and many more services to the last person in the UP during this pandemic situation.
Justice Rajeev Singh heard the matter through video-conferencing and said that “material available on record as well as totality of fact and circumstances, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, I am of the view that the applicants are entitled to be released on bail”.
