Large crowds turned up in the court complexes of the country to resolve more than 40 lacs cases in a single day in first physical National Lok Adalat of year.
The Supreme Court on Thursday decided to go ahead with hearing against fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya in a contempt of court case related to non-disclosure of his assets, as well as the amount of USD 40 million (Rs 600 crore) that he had received from Diageo Plc.
The pan India awareness and outreach campaign was launched on October 2, and it was set to be concluded on November 14. The event was organised by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), to spread awareness about the legal services in every nook and corner of the country.

The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order on a plea against the Bombay High Court judgment, which said that groping a minor without "skin-to-skin contact" cannot be termed as sexual assault, as defined under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
