Once notified by the Central government, the Allahabad High Court will get 9 new judges, the Andhra Pradesh High Court will get 7 new judges and the Karnataka High Court will get 5 new judges.
With the recent Karnataka High Court ruling directing the state police to make available body cameras to all police personnel entitled to arrest a person, the issue of handcuffing an accused without necessary permission from courts has again taken centre-stage.
Karnataka High Court bench dismissed the plea stating that the term ‘whoever’ used in Section 15 of the UAPA includes ‘anyone or everyone’ and there is no specific mention of being associated with any terrorist organization.
While considering the PIL, the Karnataka High Court bench held that since matter relates to the people belonging to a particular community, i.e., Bhovi community, the Court felt it was appropriate for the State Government to consider their grievance and take appropriate decision in accordance with law.
