The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned hearing by a day on a petition challenging the bail granted to Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni, accused of killing farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district, during a farmers protest last year.
The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to upgrade the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and introduce senior officials to ensure proper investigation.
Lakhimpur Kheri violence: The order, signed by Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi, said the commission shall complete the enquiry within a period of two months from the date of the issue of this notification.
