Supreme Court stays contempt proceedings against Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. The case relates to non-payment of rent for a government bungalow allocated to him when he was Chief Minister of the Uttarakhand.
A Latur-based Head Master, Dr Jagannath Shyamrao Patil, has moved the Supreme Court, asking it to direct the Maharashtra governor to nominate MLCs (Member of Legislative Council) in Maharashtra from the governor’s quota.
The Uttarakhand High Court has issued a Contempt of court notice to former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and present Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari in the matter of not depositing his arrears of rent and other bills.
