The petition in the Supreme Court has been filed by Delhi Police, challenging the bail granted by the Delhi High Court to the student activists, accused of being involved in the larger conspiracy that lead to riots in the national capital in 2020, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act
The Delhi court relied upon the observations in the bail order passed by the Delhi High Court in the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act case filed against three student activists -- Natasha Narwal, Devangana Kalita, and Asif Iqbal Tanha.
The bench further Said that the impugned judgment of the DelhiHC shall not be rely as a precedent by any of the parties before any court. “It is clarified that release of the respondents at this stage not interfered with,” it added.

A Bench of Justices Siddarth Mridul and Anup Jairam Bhambhani said, “We expect the Trial Court to proceed further expeditiously and list the matter for hearing at 3:30PM today.
The Delhi Police had filed chargesheet against them alleging that the Anti-CAA protests organized by them from December 2019 were part of a larger conspiracy behind the North East Delh riots which took place in the last week of February 2020 when the US President Donald Trump was on India visit.
Earlier on Tuesday, Bedi had deferred passing an order for the immediate release of Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal from judicial custody for want for verification of their addresses and sureties.
The appeal has been filed challenging the order of the Delhi HC allowing bail to 2019 Delhi riots accused in appeal filed under section 21(5) of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 r/w section 43(D)(5) of the UAPA.
The two have been held in a case related to a larger conspiracy in the Northeast Delhi riots in February last year. The Court deferred the hearing on Tuesday, after want of verification of their addresses.
