The Delhi High Court has dismissed the appeal preferred seeking Central Government to facilitate diplomatic interventions as well as negotiations with the family of the victim, on behalf of Nimisha Priya to save her life by paying blood money (diyah).
The Centre on Tuesday informed the Delhi High Court that it will immediately initiate necessary steps for filing an appeal before the Supreme Court in Yemen, against the death sentence awarded to Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse, who allegedly killed a Yemen national.
An early hearing was sought from the Delhi High Court on the petition seeking intervention of the Government of India in the case of Nimisha Priya, who was awarded the death sentence in Yemen.
