The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail petition of OSD Veerpal Singh, accused in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority land scam
The Madras High Court on March 08 disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking a direction to the Director of Vigilance and Anti Corruption , Chennai to commence and complete the investigation into the complaint of the petitioner dated 16.12.2021 relating to the scam.
The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court, while dismissing anticipatory bail to a government doctor, observed that corruption is like a termite in every system and once it has entered the system, it has gone on increasing.
The petition in Supreme Court challenged the Punjab and Haryana High Court order, which had dismissed the appellant plea, noting that custody period alone cannot be a ground for suspension of sentence.
The Supreme Court directed the CBI to ensure that no delay occurs in filing of an appeal. It also directed that necessary administrative steps be taken by CBI to ensure that filing and other steps be monitored on respective platform, so that such delay does not occur
