The Government of Puducherry submitted that some payments have been made to the private medical colleges. It was further submitted that for subsequent bills raised by the medical college, the veracity of the bills need to be looked into.
The court said that the practice of filing the writ petitions on the similar matter pending before any other bench of the concerned court will bring the multifariousness of the writ petitions.
According to the petition, the government has already fixed the price for the HRTC Test in the government hospitals. Now the petitioner has filed this petition seeking direction to the respondent to fix the price for the HRTC Test in the private hospitals.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) to fix a cap on charges taken by private hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
The plea in the Delhi High Court wants a control on the cost of treatment incurred by Covid patients in private hospitals. The plea has also sought a direction to private hospitals to publish on its website the regulated rates as well as show in prominent places inside the hospitals.
The Petitioner while calling the pricing announced by SII discriminatory i.e. Rs 400 and Rs 700, further prays to impose price ceiling of Rs 157 and make it available to both Government and Private hospitals.
R. Alagumani, Counsel for the petitioner, has referred to some of the bills charged by the private hospitals, which is annexed in the typed set of papers filed along with the petition.
The petitioner says that the state government was bound to take remedial measures for controlling and regularising the high charges imposed by Private Hospitals for the treatment of COVID-19.
